Independent Power Producers Forum
We are an active catalyst for positive change with a unique “fraternal” organizational atmosphere. We cover all key areas and sectors relating to power generation: Gas, Coal, Bio-Mass, Hydro, Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Geo-Thermal, Legal, Finance, Insurance, Security, Equipment, Infrastructure, Alternatives, Renewable and Sustainable Technologies, etc.
The IPPF also leads the “New Energy” parade for Energy Efficiencies (EESCO’s), Pollution Prevention (P2/E2), GHG Trading, Energy Security, Waste-to-Energy, Standby Power, Smart Grid, Distribution / Transmission, Restructuring.
AN ASIA / PACIFIC POWER PERSPECTIVE
We see a rapidly changing and maturing Asia with an evolving commercial environment increasingly suitable for investment and related activities. Asian economies and nations are developing at varying speeds. A robust socially maturing Asia cannot achieve such important goals as alleviation of poverty without an exponential growth of available power at affordable prices. In less than half a decade we have witnessed and participated in revolutionary changes in capital formation procedures.
We recognize and encourage the development of cutting edge fuel technologies, delivery systems and creative distribution formulas. There will be a quantum leap in Pan-Asian expansion of power resources with a concurrent growth of ‘clean air’ solutions and new capital formation markets revolving around “New Energy”, Carbon Credits, GHG and Efficiencies.
To achieve this level of energy output, the countries of Asia must become “safe” for international investments under legal establishments that adhere to the Rule of Law and principles of commercial fair play.
MISSION
The Independent Power Producers Forum (IPPF), works toward a level playing field, transparency, Rule of Law and a better overall investment environment in Asia as related to the IPP industry.
The Independent Power Producers Forum (IPPF) is a non-profit organization made up of senior executives and decision-makers in the energy and power generation sector and related firms with active business commitments in Asia. We interact in a positive manner with like-minded international bodies and institutions, support and work with appropriate educational institutions and leading academics. The IPPF supports the development of industry guidelines, white papers, position statements and appropriate policy research.
Our resources and support draws from key elements in the industry and is executed through NGOs, chambers, selected organizations, seminars, workshops, symposiums, panels and speakers. Most importantly, we are pro-active advocates for fair play in our industry, putting our positions forward through effective public affairs and appropriate government channels. We provide opportunities for members to develop deal-flow and respond to each other’s concerns on best practices for the enhancement of the industry and in the countries in which we operate.
PURPOSE
The key initial purpose / focus of the IPPF as currently constituted is to promote and support best business practices in related government policy and regulation for the Power Industry in Asia.
A key part of this “purpose” is to coordinate the efforts of the international / multi-national investment / management community in seeking a level playing field for all elements in the industry. One such effort is to work toward proper “Rule of Law” disciplines across the region.
